22713. Innovative India-Made MRI Machine Can Make Medical Imaging Affordable And Accessible
- 1) The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine developed by Voxelgrids Innovations Private Limited is entirely made in India and eases some of the primary challenges associated with widespread adoption of MRI тАУ cost, size, and time.
- 2) It is a marked improvement on the typically costly, bulky, and noisy MRI machine that generally sits in radiology labs with little possibility of transport.
- 3) The Voxelgrids team is diverse and consists of radio-frequency, mechanical, and software engineers. The team is led by Arjun Arunachalam, who is the founder of the company and the system architect.
- 4) тАЬThey (Tata Trusts) supported an idea on paper. They had supported a not-for-profit incubator called Social Alpha, through whom we received this support,тАЭ Arunachalam says.
- 5) Tata Trusts and Social Alpha invested crores of rupees into the project. A government grant of Rs 2.38 crore followed soon after.
22714. IIT-BHU Develops Clean Hydrogen Fuel That Could Help Reduce Air Pollution
- 1) The department of chemical engineering and technology at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) , has developed a membrane reformer prototype for producing ultra-pure hydrogen from methanol.
- 2) The Centre has recently launched the National Hydrogen Energy Mission to promote the production of hydrogen from green energy resources.
- 3) Rajesh Kumar Upadhyay of the department and his team said that it is the first such prototype in India and there are no such commercial units worldwide.
- 4) Upadhyay said that the prototype isolated 99.999 percent pure hydrogen from a mere 15 ml/minute methanol to 13 litres/minute and succeeded in producing 1 KW of power on integration with a hydrogen fuel cell.
- 5) Hydrogen is said to be the top clean fuel with its high energy density and versatility to replace fossil fuels.
- 6) The entire unit is manufactured in India and all components like methanol-reforming catalysts and hydrogen-selective membranes were synthesized at the chemical engineering lab in the institute.
22715. Khan Academy, SBI Foundation join hands to accelerate localisation of educational content
- SBI Foundation, the CSR arm of State Bank of India, is partnering with Khan Academy India, an edtech platform, for localisation of educational content and making them accessible to students in Punjab.
- The focus of the partnership will be on successfully implementing a personalised math learning programme for 100,000 learners in Punjab.
- Localisation of educational content is a new thrust area and the new national education policy (NEP) 2020 has clearly underlined it. As a part of this initiative, Khan Academy India will work with the Punjab government to effectively implement it
22716. L&T ties up with Norwegian company for electrolyzer technology to push green hydrogen plans

22720. CSIR scientists develop a sensor to monitor health status on the go
- 1) A team of scientists at Council of Scientific and Industrial ResearchтАЩs Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, has developed a flexible low cost, wearable sensor that can monitor the health and physiological status of the human body on the go by just analyzing the sweat.
- 2) The microfluidic sensor can be used for on-the-spot monitoring of several biomarkers such as lactate, Sodium, and Potassium simultaneously from sweat samples. It analyses the biomarkers without any transfer of signals.
- 3) The high-throughput sweat sampling ability of the sensor facilitates continuous capture and transport of the sweat over the surface of the device resulting in real-time analysis.
- 4) A fluidic channel in the sensor captures real-time sweat and directs it through the active sensing electrodes for subsequent interference-free analyses. A miniaturized printed circuit board collects cross-talk-free sensor responses without the need for wires.
- 5) The team led by Dr. Vinu, who is a recipient of the INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship instituted by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has published a report on their work in the journal тАШACS SensorтАЩ.
